Download 'The Sims 4' for Free Right Now
The Sims 4, the latest game in the popular Sims series, is completely free to download right now. The Sims publisher, EA, is giving away the standard PC version of the game until May 28th, through the EA Origin launcher.
The key word there is “standard.” The Sims 4 currently comes in a couple of options: the standard version, which normally runs $40, and the $50 Digital Deluxe version. The standard version only contains the base Sims 4 game, while Digital Deluxe copies include the base game plus the DLC packs Life of the Party,Up all Night, and the Awesome Animal Hats pack, plus a digital copy of The Sims 4 soundtrack.
While only the standard version of The Sims 4 is completely free during this deal, the Digital Deluxe version is included as a part of the free game library for EA Access subscribers, which costs either $5 per month or $30 per year.
Whichever option you pick, you’ll have the opportunity to purchase any of the numerous Sims 4 expansion packs and DLC items for 10 percent off their base prices while the free download promotion. The Digital Deluxe comes with a few out of the box, but there are several more available. These expansion packs add tons of new content to the game, such as new outfits and customization options for your Sims, new gameplay scenarios, and tons of new items to collect—though you can still get a complete Sims experience just by sticking to the free standard edition if you don’t want to pay for any upgrades. Here’s how to snag yourself a free copy of The Sims 4:
- Download and open the EA Origin PC app.
- Sign into your Origin account (or create a new one).
- After signing in, go to the “My Home” tab.
- Click on the “free Sims 4” promotion (remember: the offer only lasts until May 28th).
- Choose The Sims 4 standard edition when prompted.
- Complete the on-screen instructions to begin downloading the game.
- Wait for the download to complete—this may take several minutes depending on your internet speed.
- Once the game is downloaded and installed, open the “My Game Library” tab and click The Sims 4 icon to start the game.
