I have installed mods for Eurotruck, I unzipped them and placed them in mod file is that all i have to do?

Download mods. If they are in an archive, look inside to check if there are more than one mods. Normally, the mods have the file extension scs. Plain zipworks, too. Extract them from the archive, if that is the case. A mod must is a single file. If you end up with more files with extensions such as siior other than zipor scs, then you've gone too deep with the archive unpacking.
After you are certain you have the correct files, put them into the mod folder:
The above example is for win7, but it should be similar, for other versions.

Now, start the game and, after the Euro Truck Simulator 2logo animation intro, at the profile selection screen, choose your profile and click Edit.
If the mod files are correct, you should see them in the right hand list. Activate them by clicking the checkbox next to their name. You can activate them all, only a few or none.
Confirm your choice by clicking Applyand then click Continue.
