Aim USMLE Step 1

USMLE Preparation from MBBS 1st Yr (TIPS)
First let me give u my introduction.
I have qualified in PMT Entrance and going to join Medical college from this session.

I am just reading the different forums for a week. In fact its the only job I hav now i.e. reading ur views abt USMLE , GRE , PG etc. I hav read almost 90% of forums.

From this I hav come to certain conclusions on how should I shape my career an plan my future during my MBBS Course.

I am very interested in USMLE bcz I want to be the BEST DOCTOR in the world.

MY PLAN

1. First I need to study in depth from the international std. books.
2. After getting my concepts cleared I will start Kaplan and other USMLE Stuff. (Infact I am collecting Kaplan DVDs from seniors)
3. During my 2nd & 3rd yr of MBBS I will try to get STS of ICMR, KVPY of IISc, TIFR etc. (I am just crazy abt research, It will also put some weight on my RESUME.)
4. I will appear STEP 1 and STEP 2 CK during internship and STEP 2 CS after internship.
5. Then I will try my BEST for MATCH to get RESIDENCY in some good specilization in US.
6. If some problems arise like VISA/LOR/US Clinical exp./research publication I will go for GRE and join some good univ. (attached with Medical college) in courses like Cell & Molecular biology, Devp. biology, Oncology, Pharma, Micro, Patho etc. There I will get LOR & research publication. Also try to do some externship at hospital.
7. Then It will be easy to get a very good specilization in Residency and also put a lot of weight on my RESUME.

You may think that I hav gone mad and saying these things before joining med. college. But NO I am in my full presence of mind.

My view is that before u start study U must have a goal in ur mind otherwise study is worthless.

So I hav put up My plan here. I request all the senior members to help me and give necessary advice whether the plan will be fruitful or NOT.

Also give suggestions on which books to be read to get very indepth knowledge.
From ur forums I hav got some Idea on 1st yr books.
For Physio - Gyton & Ganong
Biochem - Harper & Lipponcot
Kaplan, BRS Physio etc.

Waiting for your valuable reply.

UNANSWERED: Topics division/frequency in final mbbs question papers?

hi
hi
one of my friend has step-1 notes and dvds .As he is done with his step-1 , so must be interesting in giving away his notes and dvds.I dont know if he has already sold to someone .
it is good that u guys are starting so early..but take things easy and try to understand what mbbs is ,first. it takes time to fall in groove of mbbs.
the books mr sahu has selected are the best but it is hard to finish all of them with in one year of limited time specificaly for subject like anatomy..

which book for anotomy is better keithmoore or grays anotomy. from where i can get brs books.plz help

jugunu
Aim MRCOG Part 1

i wont agree with you that there is free time in second year..as clinics starts ...it takes a lot of time and energy to understand the clinical part of mbbs and moreover the second year subjects are lenthy too...
what i suggest try to read atleast one standard textbook..
see in india at least in my college we have only 20% of exam in mcq format..rest is in long and short notes format..so to write these questions u got to read indian author books as well ..
so for physio-- gynong +any indian author( famous in ur college)..if time alows--gyton
for biochem--- lippincot + any indian book like satyanarayan etc and harper for selective topics like molecular biology and genetics
for anatomy---- langmans embryology ,moore for clinical anatomy, bd chaurasia
You can solve pretest books of these subjects as you finish topics..

other than these read kaplan notes and try to listen the latest 2006-2007
vedios..dont use the old vedios...new ones are really good.I will give the dvd details of these latest dvds in seprate reply. You can compare it with ur dvds.

in second year you can revise and do high yield anatomy and brs physiology..
