Work with files and folders in iCloud for Windows
When you set up the iCloud for Windows app, you can work with your iCloud Drive files and folders directly on your Windows computer. You can add files to folders, create new folders and reorganise folders in File Explorer (Windows 8 or later) or Windows Explorer (Windows 7).
View and open files
On your Windows computer, open File Explorer (Windows 8 or later) or Windows Explorer (Windows 7), then click iCloud Drive in the Navigation pane.
Locate and double-click any files you want to open.
In iCloud for Windows version 10 or later: files must download before they will open. The icons in the Status column tell you the download status of files. See View file download and sharing status in iCloud for Windows for a list of icons and what they mean.
In iCloud for Windows version 7: all files in iCloud Drive are automatically downloaded to your computer.
Find out which version of iCloud for Windows you have.
Add files to iCloud Drive
On your Windows computer, open File Explorer (Windows 8 or later) or Windows Explorer (Windows 7), then click iCloud Drive in the Navigation pane.
Drag files into iCloud Drive.
You can access these files on all your devices that have iCloud Drive turned on.
Note: Some apps, like Pages, Numbers and Keynote, have their own folders in iCloud Drive. You can only upload a file into an app’s folder if the app can open the file.
Move items to your Windows computer and remove them from iCloud Drive
On your Windows computer, open File Explorer (Windows 8 or later) or Windows Explorer (Windows 7), then click iCloud Drive in the Navigation pane.
Locate the items you want to remove.
Drag the items from iCloud Drive to the Desktop or another folder on your hard disk.
The items are copied to your Windows computer and removed from iCloud Drive on all your devices that have iCloud Drive turned on. If you change your mind, you can drag the items back to iCloud Drive.
