I am so disappointed, of course I knew what I was getting into, Kathleen Kenedy and Disney did not treat this trilogy right to begin with. By having multiple directors assigned to movies in a particular order before they even had a coherent script for each movie or the trilogy's own story they made a colossal mistake. Another colossal mistake was having Rian Johnson direct straight after JJ, or to even have these two's weird feud dynamic to begin with.

It's very telling that Kathleen Kenedy said it's hard to come up with these movies when there's no source material -- the entirety of the Legends canon would have something to say.

On topic:

So this movie is clearly crafted to convey apologisms for past misgivings towards its fans. And it is completely within my or anyone else's right to ask: if you thought Ep 8 was fine, why apologize for it now? And if you knew it was bad, why let it happen when everyone warned you? You can't have it both ways either, so what happened there? Some examples of "apologizing": Luke saying a Jedi's weapon deserves to be treated with respect after he himself threw it over his shoulder (only because Rian Johnson couldn't figure out a way to hit the audience with it); random rebel soldier telling the protagonists to "pull some Holdo moves" AKA suicide by FTL maneuvers, which is quickly noted to have been a "one in a million move" -- interesting, I don't remember it that way, she literally pressed a button and took out The Supremacy (Snoke's flagship) as the computer-handled jump drives did the rest;

Agenda drives this movie, and the plot itself is poor fanfic tier -- which is ironic because the Legends canon lore was deemed not good enough and that's why it's isolated from the OT, Prequels and now this ST. They teach you in screen writing school what PLOT is and what it means, and how it's about "GOALS STAKES URGENCY" and none of that is apparent in this one, sorry JJ. There's no time frame ever established for all the mcguffin chases the protagonists have to do and being told "if we don't do this (particular thing), everything else would've been for nothing" -- which is weird, because JJ did it right in Episode 7 with Starkiller base, they were against the clock to sabotage it before it could be operational and take out planets... but not Ep 9, no. You just see a massive fleet (which does nothing ofc) and you're told it will be completed soon (it looks complete already). The movie skips around so much and so fast that any sense of chronology is impossible. Which is of course explained by the fact that this movie is in fact 2 movies in 1. But that's not my fault is it now, why should I suffer for their incompetence.

Also:

The lore from this movie breaks and retcons the original trilogy as well as the prequels, these weird force mending abilities are just too overpowered and if some random girl like Rey (which now we find out was trained by Leia) can do them, as well as Kylo being able to replicate the same move after he saw Rey perform it unto himself ('cause that's all it takes to learn a new move) then anyone can do the same ... ergo, the previous scholars and masters on the Jedi Council trained by Yoda & the greats should in theory know and be able to perform this same exact Force Mending/Ressurection ability.

... Obi-wan could've saved Qui-Gon in Ep 1, Obi-wan could've healed Anakin's hand in Ep 2, and Obi-wan could've just brought Padme back to life & try again to turn Anakin-Vader back to the Light Side in Ep 3. Similarly, Luke could've saved Darth Vader in Ep 6.

Thanks a lot JJ. I'm giving you as many stars as trilogies you've ruined. And don't laugh Rian, your movie was so bad it was skipped.
